Xieng Khuang overview

Xieng Khuang Guide
Xieng Khuang is a place that must be visited if you are travelling in northeastern Laos. The province contains the famous Plain of Jars, but before you write this off as the most boring sounding thing of all time, keep in mind that these are not your grandmother's jelly jars. The jars on the Plain of Jars are made of stone and some estimates date them at as much as 3,000 years old. Some of the jars are over three meters high. Many also believe that the jars were used to hold human remains, which adds a level of creepiness to the already stunning sight. Sadly, the second biggest attractions in this province are the bomb craters, as Xieng Khuang was bombed back to the Stone Age during the Vietnam War, which make the stone jars on the Plain of Jars even more ironic and appropriate.
