Vientiane overview

Being the capital of the most heavily bombed country in history may be a dubious title, but the beautiful city of Vientiane is not to be missed for those looking for an interesting experience in Asia. Vientiane is home to the stunning Pah That Luang, also known as The Golden Stupa, which is the symbol of Laos, and probably found on the front cover of your guidebook. While most people will spend their time delving into Laos rich culture, religion, and history, the truly adventurous will check out one of Laos' only bowling alleys, which can be found in Vientiane. The Buddha Park, which is located about 25kms outside of the city, contains some of the most interesting and seemingly well preserved Buddhist statues in the world, although most of them really aren't that old. Visitors can walk through three stories representing Heaven, Hell and Earth.
