Vang Vieng overview

Vang Vieng is a small town located in the Vientiane province that has become a favorite among backpackers looking for a place to nap in hammocks and drink banana milkshakes. This means that there are plenty of guest houses serving western food and internet caf?s that will allow you to tell your friends back home how much fun you are having while loading the day's pictures onto Facebook. The market in the north part of town is worth a visit, as it sells food that might be difficult to find in a caf? back home, including rats, squirrels, and of course, monkeys. Don't stray too far from any given path as Vang Vieng still has active landmines left over from the Vietnam War, which occasionally blow up a farmer and his cow. Going inner tubing down the river Kayaking is a popular activity in the wet season.
