Champasak overview

Champasak is a lazy town in Southern Laos that is a must visit for those looking for a quiet place to relax for a few days while looking at some of the ancient wonders of Laos. Most visitors come for Wat Phu, which any archeologist will tell you is really, really old. Most of the time this town is pretty quiet but during the Bun Wat Phu Champasak festival the locals take over so make sure and plan your trip well in advance or plan to pay a lot for your room. Those looking for a bit of an adventure can rent a boat for the day and cruise the Mekong, which is dappled with more ruins. For a temple that still has living people in it check out Wat Nyutthitham, which is within walking distance of the city centre.
